1 Sa‘= 2.172 Kg Is From The Translator and Not The Scholars.

1 Sa‘= 2.172 Kg Is From The Translator and Not The Scholars.

Assalamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

Our Elder Brother Abul-‘Abbaas Moosaa Richardson (hafidahullaah) as noticed that, 1 sa‘= 2.172 kg is from the translator and not the scholars in the below translated fatwa.

He (hafidahullaah) pointed out that the translator has added to the speech of the scholars (between parentheses). The original Arabic fatwaa has NO MENTION of this specification, not in the text of the fatwaa, nor in a footnote. Further, Abul-‘Abbaas (hafidahullaah) said that he is not saying that (1 sa‘= 2.172 kg) is inaccurate, as a saa’ (3L) of some kinds of food might actually weigh precisely 2.172 kg. However, it should be known that this specification did not occur from the scholars quoted.

Lastly, He (hafidahullaah) recommend us to read the content given in the below link for clarity on the subject :
